Site configuration

Site ConfigWhere your site's settings live in the admin, gathered in one place and grouped into sections by the part of the product they affect. Most settings have a site-wide default and can be overridden for individual events; a few are managed by EventDrake and shown as read-only. is where your site’s settings live. EventDrake keeps them in one place, organised into sections, and this page explains how those settings behave so the rest of the manual can point you to the right one.

All of your site’s settings sit in the Site Config area of the admin. They are grouped into sections by the part of the product they affect, such as sign-up, payments, or your event listings. Each area of this manual documents its own settings on a Settings page, so you read about a setting next to the feature it belongs to.

Most settings work on two levels:

  • A site-wide default applies across your whole site.
  • An event override changes that setting for a single eventA single ticketed offering that people register for: one camp, one party, one conference, or one run of a show. Your site usually runs many events, and each is normally used once and then archived rather than reused (an annual festival creates a new event each year). Each event has its own page on your site, for example example.com/summercamp. When your site has only one active event, EventDrake automatically presents it as the site's main page and keeps the multi-event navigation out of the way..

Where an event does not override a setting, it uses the site-wide default. This lets you set something once for your site and adjust it only for the events that need something different. Not every setting can be overridden per event; the ones that can are noted where they are documented.

A few settings are set up with EventDrake rather than changed by you, usually because they need verified details or careful testing (single sign-on is one example). These show in Site Config as read-only, and the manual marks them as managed by EventDrake. To change one, contact EventDrake.

Site Config is part of the admin area, so changing a setting needs access to it, and some settings are limited to administrators. See Roles for how access works.
