Discounts and unlocks
A voucherA code a customer enters at checkout to get a discount on specific items, or to unlock an item that is otherwise unavailable to them. A voucher applies to the booking types, add-ons, or merch you choose, not to the whole order. It can be a single shared code or a set of unique single-use codes. carries one or more discounts, each pointed at a single item. This is set on the Discounts tab when creating or editing a voucher. A voucher with no discounts does nothing, so this is where a voucher earns its keep.
Add a discount
Section titled “Add a discount”Each discount targets one item and sets how much comes off it.
Each discount points at one thing. Add one by choosing what it applies to:
- A booking type (a kind of ticket).
- An add-on.
- A merch item.
Pick the specific item from the list, then choose how much comes off it. To discount several items, add a discount for each. There is no single setting that discounts a whole order; a voucher only affects the items you add here.
How much comes off
Section titled “How much comes off”Each discount has a type:
- Fixed discount: take a set amount off the item’s price, for example $10 off.
- Percentage discount: take a percentage off, from 1 to 100.
- Set price: charge a fixed price for the item instead of its normal one, for example set a $50 ticket to $30.
- Enable only: no discount at all. Use this only to unlock an item (see below).
A discount never makes an item cost more, and never takes it below zero. If more than one discount could apply to the same item, the customer gets the largest one. A voucher counts as used once per order, however many items it discounts on that order.
Unlocking an item
Section titled “Unlocking an item”A discount can also unlock its item: let voucher holders order something the public cannot. Turn on the unlock option on a discount to let its holders order the target item even when it is turned off, hidden, not yet on sale, or no longer on sale. A hidden booking type or add-on can only be ordered this way, unless a staff member books it. Staff can create and submit a booking on one for a customer, who then pays for the order from My Account.
This is useful for things like a hidden ticket type for special guests, or reopening a closed booking type for a few people. Use the Enable only type when you want to unlock an item without discounting it.
Merch free shipping
Section titled “Merch free shipping”The Merch free shipping option waives shipping fees on merch in the order. It applies to the order as a whole rather than to a single item, so you set it on its own rather than as one of the discounts above.
