Vouchers

A voucherA code a customer enters at checkout to get a discount on specific items, or to unlock an item that is otherwise unavailable to them. A voucher applies to the booking types, add-ons, or merch you choose, not to the whole order. It can be a single shared code or a set of unique single-use codes. is a code a customer enters at checkout to get a discount, or to unlock an item that is otherwise unavailable to them. This section covers creating and managing vouchers. For how a discount reaches an order, see Understanding orders.

A voucher applies to specific items you choose, not to the whole order. You pick which booking types, add-ons, or merch it discounts, and by how much. There is no whole-order percentage and no minimum-spend voucher; a voucher only affects the items you point it at. Pointing it at several items is how you discount more than one thing.

A voucher can also unlock an item: let its holders order something that is turned off, hidden, or outside its sale dates. See Discounts and unlocks.

When you create a voucher you choose how it can be used:

  • Reusable: one shared code that anyone can use, with no limit on how many times.
  • Limited use: one shared code that can be used a set number of times in total, after which it stops working.
  • Individual codes: a batch of unique codes, each usable once. You generate as many as you need and hand them out individually. See Individual codes.

Customers enter a voucher code while registering or checking out, and see the discount applied straight away, or a clear reason if the code is invalid, expired, or used up. They need to be logged in to use one. On the registration page, visitors who aren’t logged in see a prompt to log in and apply their voucher.

The voucher box shows on the registration page even when no tickets are on sale, so a voucher holder can always unlock a hidden or closed booking type.

Orders → Vouchers

The voucher list shows each voucher’s code, label, kind, whether it is enabled, its dates, and how much it has been used.

You manage vouchers from Orders → Vouchers. The list shows how each one is being used: a running count for shared codes, or how many individual codes have been claimed.

To stop a voucher working, switch it off with its Enabled toggle rather than removing it, so its record and history stay intact.
