Accepting tickets

When someone registers a ticket for another person, by entering that person’s email as part of a group booking, the ticket is theirs but they have not yet taken it up themselves. Accepting is how that person confirms their own ticket.

The person the ticket is for is asked to accept it, usually soon after the booking. In accepting, they confirm their own details (such as their badge name) and answer anything that must be agreed to personally, for example a required code-of-conduct checkbox. This makes sure each attendee has agreed for themselves, not just the person who booked.

Accepting is separate from the ticket being paid, and from details confirmed: a ticket can be paid and still waiting to be accepted. People accept from their own account, where a ticket booked for them shows up ready to accept.

On the ticket list you can bring in an Accepted column and filter by it, to find everyone who has not yet accepted, for example to chase them before the event.

When a ticket has not been accepted, staff can accept it on the holder’s behalf.

If someone cannot accept their own ticket, staff can do it for them from the ticket. Use this sparingly: because acceptance is how a person agrees to things themselves, accept on their behalf only when you have their go-ahead, for example confirming a detail over the phone.
