Add-ons
An add-onAn optional extra a person can add to a ticket, during registration or later, subject to availability. You organise add-ons into groups you define, each with its own rules for how many can be chosen and which apply. Add-ons can be free or paid, with limited or unlimited stock. (The detailed group rules live in the Ticketing docs.) is an optional extra attached to a ticket, such as a meal, a shuttle seat, or a workshop place. Add-ons are organised into groups, and this split is the key idea: the group carries the rules for how many can be chosen and who sees them, while each add-on inside it carries its own price and stock.
Groups and add-ons
Section titled “Groups and add-ons”- An add-on group is a set of related choices with shared rules, for example “Meals” or “Transport.”
- An add-on is one option within a group, for example “Saturday dinner” or “Airport shuttle.”
You create a group first, then add the individual add-ons inside it. Each group appears as its own step in the registration flow, so attendees work through your groups one at a time. Grouping related choices together keeps sign-up tidy.
Both groups and add-ons have a title and a description; the description supports Markdown formatting.
The list shows your groups; opening a group has a tab listing the add-ons within it.
Group rules
Section titled “Group rules”A group’s Behaviour settings decide how attendees choose from it:
- Allow multiple selections: whether someone can pick more than one add-on from the group. Off means it behaves like a single choice.
- Allow duplicate selections: whether someone can pick the same add-on more than once (for example two of the same meal).
- Minimum selections: how many they must choose. 0 makes the whole group optional; 1 or more makes it required.
- Maximum selections: the most they can choose. 0 means no limit.
- Booking cutoff and edit cutoff: the latest date add-ons in the group can be booked, and the latest they can be changed.
- Available for day passes: whether the group is offered on day-pass tickets.
Add-on settings
Section titled “Add-on settings”Each add-on inside a group has its own:
- Price and, if you want to cap it, limited inventory with a total and a remaining count.
- Enabled and visible switches, and a sort order. As with booking types, an add-on that is turned off or hidden can only be chosen during registration by staff with the Administrator or Registration role, or by someone who applies a voucher that unlocks it. Turning off the whole group closes every add-on in it to everyone except those staff, and a voucher can’t reopen a closed group. To give a customer an add-on they can’t choose themselves, staff create and submit the booking for them, and the customer then pays for the order from My Account.
- Day pass settings, to tie the add-on to day passes and a specific day.
- Booking and edit cutoffs, which override the group’s cutoffs when set.
- Auto-assign tags, so booking this add-on tags the ticket.
Lining up add-ons with booking types
Section titled “Lining up add-ons with booking types”You control which add-ons appear for which tickets from either side, whichever is easier:
- From the add-on group (and per add-on): restrict a group, or a single add-on, to chosen booking types.
- From the booking type: use its restrict available add-ons option to narrow which add-ons that type is offered.
An add-on is offered on a ticket only when both sides agree, so use whichever direction keeps your setup clearest.
Common patterns
Section titled “Common patterns”The group rules cover most real needs. A few examples:
- Transport (pick one, optional). A “Transport” group with multiple selections off and a minimum of 0: attendees may choose one option (say, coach or shuttle) or none.
- Catering package (must choose). A “Meal plan” group with a minimum of 1: everyone must pick a plan before they can finish.
- Activities (pick several, limited places). An “Activities” group with multiple selections on and a sensible maximum, where each activity add-on has its own limited inventory, so popular sessions sell out independently while others stay open.
Bundling merch with an add-on
Section titled “Bundling merch with an add-on”You can include a merch item with an add-on, so booking the add-on also hands over an item such as a tote bag. This is set up on the merch side. See Included merch.
