Check-in questions

Check-in questions are questionsA single prompt with an answer of a chosen kind: a text box, a number, a checkbox, a dropdown, a date, and more. Questions are a shared building block used across EventDrake, for example on registration forms and at check-in. Each question has an input type (how it is answered) and a render type (how the saved answer is shown). an operatorA staff member or volunteer running a station on the day. Operators usually sign in with a temporary session rather than a full admin account, and only see the tools their station needs. answers for each attendee as they check in. Use them to record information or to make sure a step actually happens. For what a question is made of (the input and render types, validation), see Questions; this page is about using them at the desk.

Check-in questions do two jobs:

  • Record something about the attendee. Capture a value at the desk, such as an ID number or the colour of the wristband they were given.
  • Force a step to happen. A required question, such as a “Checked ID” checkbox, must be answered before the operator can finish check-in.

Add each question under check-in questions, choose its type, and mark it required if it must be answered before check-in can finish. The types themselves are covered in Questions.

Operations → Check-In Questions

Add the questions operators answer at the desk. Mark a question required to block check-in until it is answered.

  • Record an ID number. A text field where the operator types the number from a photo ID.
  • Confirm identity was checked. A required “Checked ID” checkbox the operator must tick before check-in completes.
  • Confirm a props or safety check. A required “Checked props” checkbox for events that inspect what attendees bring in.
  • Note a wristband colour. A dropdown of colours so the operator records which band was issued.

Check-in questions appear in the check-in flow at the desk, so the operator answers them while checking each attendee in. A required question blocks check-in until it is answered. See Check someone in in the At the door manual.
