Badge numbers

Badge numbers give each ticket a short, human-readable number, such as 1042 or S015, printed on the badge for quick recognition. They are handy when people refer to each other by number or you call numbers out on the day.

Badge numbers are given out by rules, so you can number different groups in their own ranges, for example staff as S001, S002 and general attendees as 1000, 1001.

Rules are listed in priority order, each shaping the numbers it hands out and showing how many it has assigned.

Each rule has:

  • Name, Priority (lowest first, first match wins), and Active, working as they do for queue rules.
  • Assign automatically: whether it numbers new tickets as their order is confirmed.
  • Prefix and Suffix: optional text before and after the number, such as S for staff.
  • Minimum digits: pad the number with leading zeros to this width, so 7 becomes 007.
  • Start number: the first number the rule hands out, for example 1000.
  • Sort by: the order matching tickets are numbered in, by ticket, badge name, legal name, or when they registered.
  • Conditions: which tickets the rule applies to, built with the shared rule builder. See Ticket rules.

Each rule keeps its own running count, so its numbers follow on from each other.

  • Automatically: with assign automatically on, new tickets are numbered as their order is confirmed.
  • In a batch: use Assign numbers to number your existing tickets. You can choose to number only tickets that do not have one yet, or renumber everyone from scratch, and you get a preview, including any clashes, before anything is applied.
