Custom templates
Alongside the built-in emails, you can create your own templatesOne of the emails your site sends, such as a registration confirmation or a password reset, made up of a subject and a designed body. Built-in templates send automatically when something happens, like an order being placed or a password reset being requested. You can customise the wording and design of these, and you can also create your own custom templates to send to people by hand. and send them to attendees yourself. These are for occasional messages tied to your event, such as a what-to-pack list, a reminder before the event, a parental consent form, or bonus content for sponsors.
EventDrake is not a newsletter or marketing tool. Custom templates are meant for messages that go alongside people’s tickets and orders, sent when you need them, not for building mailing campaigns.
Create a custom template
Section titled “Create a custom template”Custom templates are created and edited in the same place as the built-in ones, using the option to add a new custom template.
- In Email Templates, choose to add a new custom template.
- Give it a name and choose what it is about (its context), for example a ticket, an order, or a merch order. This decides which placeholders the email can use, and which area you send it from.
- Choose whether it is site-wide or for a single event.
- Write it like any other template. See Customising an email and Placeholders and tips.
Send a custom template
Section titled “Send a custom template”You send a custom email by hand from the part of the admin that matches what the template is about. Wherever you are working with the relevant records, such as tickets, orders, or bookings, you can select who should receive the email and send it.
The flow is the same everywhere:
- Go to the area that matches the template (for a ticket email, your tickets; for an order email, your orders; and so on).
- Select one person to send to just them, or select several to send to them all at once.
- Choose Send Email, pick your template, and send it to everyone you selected.
Only templates that match that area appear in the list, so a ticket email shows up when sending from tickets, and an order email when sending from orders. The exact location of the Send Email action in each area is covered in that area’s own documentation.
